Mixer Amplifiers Provide volume and source select with built in amplification. Multiple Mic/Line inputs can be selected and controlled. Used in most simple paging systems or where many speakers are required.
		Mixing Consoles Give the user greater control of sound but usually require a sound operator. Their main use is for production use where an operator is required to manipulate the sound throughout a performance. Also used in studios and for home recording applications.
Powered Mixers Give the user greater control of sound and include a built in amplifier. Sometimes referred to as “brick amps” due to their shape although they are also available in console style. Typically used in schools and churches for productions and assemblies.
